So what is the best affiliate marketing program for beginners? What are the factors that determine a good affiliate program simple enough for beginners.
I do not remember my first day of school as I did not have much interest in school back then. I still wanted to continue playing with my friends. I vaguely recall the early days. But as I went to high school, to varsity and to work, I was keenly aware of the change of environment with some anxiety of what to expect. At one of the high schools we actually had an orientation lesson for each subject before one chose what they wanted to focus on.
So here is a little bit of an orientation for beginners in affiliate marketing on what affiliate programs maybe easy enough for users to adopt without much hassle.
What is an affiliate marketing program
Put in simple terms an affiliate marketing program is your ticket to earning sales income for promoting other people’s products. You can find a broader definition of affiliate marketing on this post.
Factors for considering an affiliate programs
You need to
- see if there is a fit between your niche and the affiliate programs
- understand how the affiliate sales are determined
- know how the commissions are structured based on factors like volumes, performance levels, specials e.t.c.
- know the terms and conditions for operating the affiliate program on restrictions like country of operations, age restrictions for visitors, type of content marketed, expiration conditions e.t.c.
- have a Paypal account for most affiliate programs to receive your commission payments.
My No.1 Affiliate Program – Amazon Associates
Amazon Associates is a retailing company of note, selling anything and almost everything under the sun, from books, electronics, clothes and digital products.
The main reason why Amazon is my top affiliate is that there is a very high chance that any new affiliate would have heard, interacted or even purchased from Amazon at any point in time.
Additionally, Amazon sells just about anything you can think of. This makes suitable for any chosen niche. Amazon will most likely have some product for sale, an e-book or physical book about your niche. And Amazon is still doing very well at 30% of the USA e-commerce market valued at $125billion.
Furthermore, it has a huge cross sell potential whereby a visitor you refer to Amazon for some product can buy some other product on Amazon and you still get a commission by virtue of having been the one who referred the client to Amazon.
People buy from people they trust. Your visitors will probably know about Amazon already which makes the purchasing decision easier and more likely than if you were selling the product yourself.
My No.2 Affiliate Program – Wealthy Affiliates
Wealthy Affiliate is online entrepreneurship training outfit that teaches people how to become online entrepreneurs through affiliate marketing. The reason why it is second on my list is that it is free to join, you can earn a commission even if you are not a paying member and it offers training on how to do affiliate marketing. It has an Affiliate BootCamp which focuses on promoting the program and any other affiliate programs of your choice. The commissions range from 21% to 42%
